As M and I were walking around Echo Park, she saw the Delta Stairs and motioned she wanted to climb the 125 stairs. I wasn’t sure if she would make it to the top (she’s only 22 months!) However, she took me by surprise and made it all the way up and back down.
After a stretch, we decided on a plant-based cool down meal at Counterpart Deli, on Delta St and Echo Park Drive.
Vibes: This part of town is still a bit hipster, but I would say it’s more on the aesthetics side and not in anyone’s personality. I was the only kid-parent here, the other parents were dog-parents, ha ha. Which M loved, because she loves watching dogs.
Kids Menu: No kids menu, so let’s share.
We split the Kale Avocado Smoothie (banana, date, coconut water, oat milk, kale and avocado) which comes with a gorgeous gold straw. M sucked a lot of this right down.
Then we got the famous Classic Bagel and Lox, this is a vegan take on Lox but made with carrots instead of smoked salmon and Blöde Kuh, a plant-based cream cheese. I don’t know how on earth they do this, but it really does taste just like smoked salmon! The cured carrots are very soft, and easy to chew. It was delightful. M is not a fan of tomato or raw onion though, so as you can see in image 3, so that’s cool, more for me.
Price: $22 – no including tax and tip
Highchairs: We have clean highchairs here!
Changing Table: No changing table but there is a dresser that you could change an infant, if you had to.
Stroller Access: There is room for a single wide stroller here.
Parking: It’s street parking here, I didn’t have trouble finding a spot, but I was here early afternoon.
Bonus: This place is so Instagramable (see image below) I’m a sucker for bold color pops and fun wallpapers, so I was in hipster heaven.
