Creatively, I wanted something sweet to represent our little family. What I ended up making is purely decorative, not to be played with, but enjoyed visually! In our travels, we have fallen in love with mountains from coast to coast. Mountains are a beautiful metaphor for qualities I love about our family: resilience, perseverance, quiet strength, and growth on a solid foundation. Our little range has 3 separate peaks, each representing an individual family member, but huddled together and joined as one.
The process was quite simple.
Arrange wooden dowels into desired shape.
Hot glue together, cutting dowels for a better fit when needed.
Rip newsprint paper into strips.
Choose tissue paper colors for project.
Rub strips of newsprint with art paste mixture until soaked through.
Lay across wooden dowel frame.
Once covered in newsprint, begin to apply tissue paper squares and gently cover with paste.
Let fully dry (12- 24 hours)
