Recently, my daughter began asking for a pizza party every 10 minutes or so. First off, I was confused by where she even learned about pizza parties, but part of the fun of parenting is figuring out where your child heard the thing they won't stop asking about. Second, I'm all about imagination play for my toddler, so I decided to craft a felt thin crust pizza, cardboard pizza oven, and pizza peel. We used the fire we made from our Cardboard Playhouse.  Boom. Pizza parties WHENEVER. WE. WANT.

(NO SEW) FELT THIN CRUST PIZZA

Yes, thin crust! This is not up for debate, it's just who I am.

  1. Select colors for your felt pizza layers (crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings). Cut out shapes to desired size.

  2. Cut an extra 1" - 1.5" thick circle to use for top crust.

  3. Arrange the layers, and cut the pizza into slices carefully before gluing pieces together.

  4. Hot glue toppings to cheese first, then cheese to sauce, then sauce to crust,  leaving an opening and room inside to add stuffing. Close opening after stuffing.

  5. Hot glue top crust to pizza, leaving an opening and room to stuff with filling, if desired. Close opening.

  6. Lose fingerprints from hot glue burns.

CARDBOARD PIZZA OVEN

Disclaimer: This is the first time I actually tried documenting all of the steps with photos, but I only got two-thirds of the shots.

  1. Decide the shape and size of your pizza oven. If you want a nice curve on your cardboard, just roll it up slowly.

  2. Trace and cut the front and back sides of your oven. Include tabs to fold over (see below) and hot glue to the inside of the oven to help keep the shape and secure easily.

  3. Cut out opening on the front side piece of your oven.

  4. Hot glue together.

  5. (NOT PICTURED) Take another piece of cardboard and cut out rectangles to fit the brick pattern for your oven. Paint them.

  6. (NOT PICTURED) Hot glue faux brick to the outside of pizza oven.

  7. (NOT PICTURED) With more cardboard, cut out the shape you want for your pizza peel. Repeat for a second layer. Hot glue the layers together, inserting a cardboard tube in between them for a handle.
