The Best Books For Hipster Babies (And Their Parents)
We all have at least a few friends that are just very cool. You know what I mean, right? The kind of friends that have homes that look like a design blog complete with ceramics purchased on Etsy, Parachute Home bedding, cool leather chairs, perfectly styled bookshelves… you get the drift. These are the kids books to buy for those friends who value a beautiful “shelfie” just as much as the stories in them.
ET, Buffy, Dr. Who - Basically any of the Pop Classic books illustrated by Kim Smith are guaranteed to give you some serious kid book street cred. I have purchased all of these books for myself and all of my friends with kids and they’re always a huge hit.
My Dad Used to be Cool - This is the perfect book for any tattooed rock star-type dads and dad-to-bes out there.
My First Book of Patterns and This Book is Bananas - My very cool architect friend gave me these are not only are they aesthetically pleasing, they are very exciting for little kids, especially This Book is Bananas which I have read about one jillion times over the last three years.
Little People, Big Dreams Series (Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Ella Fitzgerald, Greta Thunberg to name a few)- This series features all sorts of amazing and inspirational people and you are sure to be able to find someone in the series that will impress your hipster friends.
Baby University Series (Organic Chemistry For Babies, ABCs of Engineering, Organic Chemistry For Babies)- Because what’s cooler than teaching your baby quantum physics before she can even walk?
What We’ll Build: Plans For Our Together Future - Oliver Jeffers is one of the most amazing authors and illustrators out there! Every page from his books could be ripped out and framed and his lyrical writing can win over even the harshest critic. What We’ll Build is his newest book and Here We Are: Notes For Living on Planet Earth is another book I’ve recommended countless times and given to pretty much everyone.
Happy gifting (and reading!),
