Sibling Gift Ideas from the New Baby

Sibling Gift Ideas from the New Baby

At 15 weeks, I know it’s early days to start thinking about Mia’s welcome gift from the new baby, but what can I say… I’m a planner. And hopefully my research helps you find something special to make that transition even a tad smoother (and more fun!).

1. A personalized book from baby to their big sibling - Hooray Heroes

If story time and books are as popular at your house as they are at ours, a customized book with personal names and characters that look like your kiddos is such a special way to commemorate the bond between the littles in your life. There are hundreds of rave reviews from this company. I ordered one for myself (for another occasion) but haven’t had a chance to see it in person yet — the book proof looks so so so cute though. Will share a story on our insta when I can!

2. Big/little sibling mice in a box - Maileg

We absolutely adore this whimsical Danish toy brand. They are a small business that takes a lot of special care when designing the details of these handmade creatures. I am so thrilled to know that they make mice siblings of all iterations from big sisters to big brothers and little twins. I think the best word to describe this brand is… delightful.

3. An Instax Camera and Albums - Fujifilm Instax w/ Accessories

If your ‘big’ is old enough to operate a camera, this is a fun kit filled with tons of accessories - picture frames, string with colored pins, colored lenses, a mini album and more. I actually bought this set for myself for guests to use at my baby shower and I still use it today! It’s a fun idea to involve your big kid and encourage them to document their journey and memories with the newest member of the family in a creative way!

4. Kid’s Doll Carrier - Ergobaby

A few wise parents have started advising me of tips to consider when going from one to two kids. The one I like most is the idea of giving the older kid a feeling of responsibility - it makes them feel important and begins to instill the caring nature they should exercise when baby arrives. I love the idea that your kid can be like you and your partner with this doll carrier or a cute doll stroller (Mia is absolutely obsessed with this denim-look stroller!!!)

6. Big Sis/Bro Shirt - Honey Bug

I love these cute colors! If you’re building a basket or box of items to gift the older sibling think about including a sensory kit or a huggable lamp and these super cute matching shirts. Celebrate sibling pride in style!

7. Golden Doodle Stuffed Animal Adoption Set - Crate and Barrel

What is cooler than your new babe gifting your older babe with a DOG! A dreamy soft toy set designed by Sabina Gibson, this plush dog toy comes with plenty of canine-approved accessories, including a leash, ball, bone and an adoption certificate!

8. A Coloring Playhouse - Easy Playhouse

Imagine a note that says, “I can’t wait to play with you!” I love these cardboard kid-sized structures because you can get hours of fun and after they’re done you can recycle them and get your space back (ahhh bliss). Stickers inside and out, markers, sparkle glue, dot pens, paint… lots of fun things can be gifted along with this semi-DIY playhouse!

I hope this gives you lots of good ideas on fun gifts to give, but also gifts are not the be all and end all. It’s the thought, the care, the love and being present as possible for your kiddos that will have the most lasting effect on their childhood memories.
