Interview with MiLOWE Illustrator Emma Hastil
We're so excited to introduce you the the uber-talented Emma Hastil today! Emma is the amazing illustrator behind our Dino's at the Disco! print (which you can pre-order right here!). We loved working with her and can't wait for babies to start wearing her super fun print!
First, tell us your story! We’d love to hear little bit about yourself and your business.
I am a creative director and artist based in New York. Self-taught illustrator and product designer, formally trained at the Pratt Institute in apparel and graphic design.
What do you enjoy most about designing kids wear?
How fun it is! The freedom to be silly, use bright colors, and express joy.
Were you creative as a child?
I was constantly drawing or making something with my hands.
How do you network as a business person/creative?
I live in NYC so it’s very easy, go out.
Where do you go for inspiration on the web and in real life?
I love taking long walks and runs. NYC is full of inspiration. All the old signage is amazing for graphic design, lettering, the city is full of color palettes, and interesting people. I have a lot of friends in the arts, who inspire me and bring me to gallery openings or show me books and that is also an incredible gift as an artist to have such access and community to.
What is the first website you visit every morning?
I read the NYT daily briefing, and hit instagram. Anyone who doesn’t admit the latter is not fooling anyone.
What are your three favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
What is on your to do list for today?
Look at flights for Nigeria :)
What is your dream project?
Travel the world and create visual documentation of the wild ride.
And finally, where can we find you?
