Introduce yourself, your family, and brand.

I’m Brad, my co-founder/wife is Becca and we live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with our 5 year old daughter Graysen, and 2 year old son Thomas. DadsFanny was born out of my love for fanny packs, fatherhood and simplicity. When our oldest was a baby, I found myself searching for a better, more simplified version of our diaper bag when it was time to leave the house. I wanted something functional, hands free and super good looking <Insert Dad Joke Here>. I couldn’t find anything, so we made it.

What inspired you to start this brand? Why is the representation of fatherhood so important in modern parenthood?

I love being a dad and I love adventuring with my kids. I’m not alone. I’ve connected with a huge community of proud fathers who agree that parenting is a shared responsibility, but feel overwhelmingly left behind when it comes to gear options. The “Dad” section at baby store retailers consists of “World’s Greatest Dad” t-shirts, camouflage gear and parody gifts (drinking beer, sports and being lazy), which is demeaning to modern fatherhood. We created DadsFanny so dads could finally own a piece of the baby gear themselves. Gear made to be hands-free, so they can be hands-on.

How has COVID affected your business - positives and negatives?

Early on in the pandemic sales completely stopped - a lack of adventuring, family cost containment and a lack of baby showers. This quickly turned a corner as more and more people began to stay home and the online shopping freezy ensued. Today, our online orders are exceeding our forecasting, but our retail/wholesale accounts are still touch-and-go, as brick and mortar shopping just isn’t happening...yet.

What are the fanny’s made of and what fits in a DadsFanny?

The main compartment features mesh pockets for storing diapers and wipes, with room in the middle to carry a snack, keys, sunscreen, or an extra onesie. The front RFID-blocking pocket includes a slot for your cards, cash or driver's license. Water-resistant fabrics line the outside and inside of the pack, making clean up quick and easy. A magnetic Fidlock buckle makes gearing up a breeze and the waist strap can be fully adjusted for the perfect fit. Our packs also feature a hidden expansion pocket - perfect for a water bottle, jacket, baby bottle or snack container. There when you need it, out of sight when you don’t.
