A Quick and Easy Activity With Kids - The UCLA Mildred Mathias Botanical Garden
If you’re looking for a quick, easy and free activity to do with kids in LA, the botanical gardens at UCLA is it! This weekend we decided to revisit the gardens which I haven’t been back to in years. First we stopped by Coral Tree Cafe in Brentwood for some smoothies and treats and then headed over to the gardens. We arrived around 10:00 on a Saturday and found easy parking right in front of the entrance on Hilgard. The garden is open on weekends from 9-5 and is the perfect family-friendly activity!
It’s a 7.5 acre outdoor garden but it feels very small and contained (and bonus points for it being fenced so you don’t have to worry about your little ones running towards the road). You could be in and out in 15 minutes or less but we chose to weave around all the paths, go up and down every staircase and of course enjoy our snacks (there are several tables and benches to ist at) and spend over an hour.
It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend with a little outdoor time and I highly recommend you stop by if you’re in the area!
Happy adventuring!
