Introduce yourself, your family and your brand.

Hello! My name is Jennifer Estacio and everyone calls me Jenn for short! I have 2 kids: Paxton (3) and Piper (1). Hubby’s name is Lloyd. Flipp Family is a community for families to educate their kids (and themselves) about the Filipino culture.

What inspired you to create this community? What is your mission?

I’ve always been involved with the Filipino community since my college years but have found that there isn’t space for families especially 1st and 2nd generation Filipino American families. Now that I’m a mom, I wanted to create a space for them to continue to learn about their culture. Pre-pandemic, we took our kids everywhere and all the local events in our community and they are an inspiration behind Flipp Family!  Observing their curiosity and wanting to engage made me want to push to create this small business! Also, I’m a huge foodie and love to cook, so in a way I’ve combined my passions: Food, parenthood and culture.

So with Flipp Family I produce family friendly events in the South Bay, Long Beach, Orange County area in California. We have now shifted into an online membership and bring the event to their home via virtual events, classes and digital books. Many mompreneurs have inspired me to continue the work I’m passionate about. Also, being able to connect with other mamas via social media has really motivated me to bring what I’m passionate about to the Flipp Family community.

Flipp Family’s mission is to build a community and help educate Filipino American Families about their culture through food and fun activities. We also help busy parents make life easier by sharing any hacks and be around other parents.

What are some tips you have for parents looking to become founders?

My biggest tip is if there is an idea brewing in your head for a while, just go for it. We get so caught up on being a parent, we sometimes forget about ourselves and what we want. We have dreams and being parents shouldn’t stop us. It really is a mindset shift and telling yourself that you will accomplish this. You will launch a new product/brand. Now just do it and learn from both your successes and failures.

How has it been balancing working at home with kids during the pandemic?

In the beginning it was really rough. My kids are so young so they don’t understand that both of us have to work. There are days where I didn’t get any work done and had to play catch up at night or on the weekends. Now we are almost at the end of 2020, and now have a “routine” that works for us. I’m grateful that my job is as flexible as it can be so I can still spend time with my kids and get work done on my own time.

Do you participate in any networks or groups for founders?

Entrepinayship, Pinayista, Avenue Mama
