Cherin Choi

Introduce yourself, your family and your brand.

Cherin Choi, I am married to Gianpaolo Altomari and we are both creatives. We have a daughter named Rumi. I am a haircolorist and I go by Mizzchoi, I am co-owner of Nova Arts Salon.

What made you fall in love with hair? And how does your creativity shape your business?

I love the art of transformation, the physical transformation we are able to create with our clients is such a beautiful process. It is so fun to color and change someone's entire appearance.

How did you decide to make your passion your full time career?

I chose hair because I saw an opportunity to be creative and connect with people one on one. I love talking to my clients and learning about their lives and their careers and having the quality time to get to know them.

What are some lessons you hope to impart on your daughter?

I am so excited to get to know her, I can't say that enough, she is an individual and I am so blessed to have her in my life. Life lessons come with experience and I look forward to seeing where that takes her. I believe in individualism and that I am here to get to know her and guide her through her own path.

Name up to three small businesses that you admire.

I admire my neighbors, LCD, Things We Do, and Flask and Field. Love these women making it happen and having amazing businesses i love to go to!

Anything else you’d like to add?

There are so many things that I never imagined before I became a mother, especially a working mom. I didn't know what it would mean or feel like and I have to say that I love it more than I could've ever imagined. I am forgiving to myself and I am constantly reminded that she is so much more important than the little things.

And finally, where can we find you?
