Baby Carrier Reviews From Real Parents
Backpack Carriers
Ergo - I received an ergo backpack carrier as a hand-me-down and it was perfect for endless walks during the first few months. As soon as my teeny baby hit 7 lbs I was able to use this carrier with the infant insert and I used it until she was large enough to transition to the baby bjorn carrier. I loved the inset option which many backpacks don’t have, the cover/shade that can be pulled over their head and how secure it felt (I was never a fan of non-backpack options). The ergo is a super solid choice for a backpack carrier and in my opinion the best for brand new babies with the insert. - Callie
Baby Bjorn Air Mesh Carrier - This was my absolute favorite carrier! I started using this when my daughter was a month or two old and then used it every single day for around a year until my daughter was so long her legs almost hit my knees as I walked. I found this backpack to be the easiest to put on, the most comfortable around my waist and shoulders (it’s great for people with narrow shoulders because the straps can be easily tightened in the back) and the mesh made it more comfortable after walking around in the warm sun for hours every day and the silver mesh is really cute. - Callie
Colugo - Anyone who knows me knows I’m always going to hunt for things that are both comfortable and cute. The leopard print available for this baby carrier is loud and fun with serious comfort. You are able to adjust the width for different age/weight babies. I adore the magnetic straps that make taking a baby in and out a breeze. - Christianne
Artipoppe - I absolutely love Artipoppe. I’ve tried many other brands but never found one as comfortable and as ergonomic for my baby. She can sit in this carrier without complaints and even can easily fall asleep in it. Their luxurious (carefully selected) fabric, which comes in so many beautiful designs, protects (is not offensive to) my babies thighs. It’s a worthy investment that will last a long time for your next baby or as a hand-me-down. - Victoria
Baby Tula Carrier: Oh the Tula carrier...Truly truly hands down my favorite most used baby product we had! It’s comfortable, baby and back felt greatly supported! Love the design - simple and cute! (We have black and stars) One little front pocket that fits a diaper, some wipes, a cell phone and cards. Used it from the time our baby was a week old until today as a backpack and she’s almost 3 and 33 pounds! I’ve gotten rid of most baby things and this is one thing I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to part with, we’ve had many good memories together! - Michelle
Kelty Toddler Hiking Backpack - This is my favorite tool for hiking with our toddler. I have traversed steep hills up to waterfalls with our then 30 lbs tot on my back. It’s so ergo-friendly and comes with the perfect amount of space to pack a lunch, water bottles, a towel and a change of clothes. - Alex
Wraps
Solly Baby - Although I tried the Solly wrap, it wasn’t for me. I absolutely understand why people like them but I really struggled with putting it on properly and never felt as secure in it and I did the backpacks. - Callie
Boba Wrap - I was gifted one but had trouble using it - I never quite mastered the wrapping technique. I did like that it was soft but it just wasn’t for me. I ended up gifting it to my SIL and it wasn't for her either. - Carsen
Slings
Nalakai - Living in LA, breathable material is so important when picking out a baby carrier. This mom-owned company uses natural dyed (I have the pink ombre which is stunning) super soft cotton/linen fabric. This is my go-to for around the house or short trips. Especially useful when my first daughter was going through clingy phases and wanted to stay close to me while I worked and did chores around the house. - Christianne
Wild Bird - These are super chic looking and also the kind of material that feels lived in. It’s pretty gorgeous and works well once you’ve got the technique and fit secured. - M
Hybrids
Konny Carrier - I am 3 months postpartum with my second daughter and was gifted this super cute minimalist wrap that had the benefit of a traditional wrap but was all sewn together so you could slip it on with ease. I love the look but the baby isn’t super secure in there which kind of defeats the purpose. Big bonus: It folds super small so you can always have it in a backpack. - Christianne
Lalabu Shirt - I had a dad friend who told me about this shirt that he used for his second baby and he was obsessed with it. The only downside was that his baby outgrew it quite quickly within two months he felt like he couldn’t use it anymore. - Christianne
Ergo Baby Aerloom - Too warm for a Los Angeles summer but perfect for fall/winter and the top of spring. This is a super soft and cozy backpack/wrap that’s easy to put on and also nice to look at. - Jackie
Baby K’Tan - Not every baby is the same so it’s not to say this will be your experience but I only used this hybrid carrier once. My friend was helping me put it on and my baby cried so hard that I couldn’t put her in there anymore after that one time. I wanted to like it and thought the material was great. - Vicky
Sunnors Hip Carrier - A friend of mine with a toddler who still likes to be held told me about this hip carrier. Although they would rather not have to lug their tot around, they say this device is really useful for especially trying days. We’ve all been there! - Alex
