Representation Matters + A List of Anti-Racism Resources
In light of recent events, Christianne and I wanted to reach out to all of you directly. In times like these, silence is not an option and our hearts are very heavy right now. Just as I’m sure yours is too.
We started MiLOWE because we want to show the diversity of parenthood. It’s extremely important to Christianne and I that we show an accurate representation of what parenthood looks like, especially in our big, beautiful city of Los Angeles that we love so much. No matter what your family looks like, we want you to feel represented here, because representation matters.
Our MiLOWE community is filled with diverse voices, racially and ethnically, but also in terms of opinions, backgrounds and lifestyles. We celebrate this diversity and it makes our community stronger.
We all have different ideas of how we want to raise our children. Do we want to co-sleep? Do we want to homeschool? Do we want to send our kids to public school and crusade for change? One thing we should all agree on is we want to teach our children to be good, kind people that care for others.
It’s up to us as parents and caretakers to help children learn what’s right and what’s wrong because acceptance, perspective, understanding and kindness all start at home.
Over the last few days we’ve seen an outpouring of valuable resources and we want to share those with you. We are not the experts here so we need to learn and listen which is why we wanted to create a resource list for parents raising kids at this time when celebrating differences, promoting understanding and developing empathy is more important than ever
As we compile this master list, we’d love to see any links and resources you’ve come across in the comments below. Also please leave the names of any stores or accounts owned by POC so we can share them, order from them and promote them.
Here are a few links we bookmarked:
