How to Show Your Friends Love in the Time of Quarantine (From a Safe Distance)
There’s no better feeling than surprising a friend or loved one with a little pick me up during stressful times. Over the last few months of quarantine we’ve all missed birthdays, celebrations and the chance to interact with friends. Here are some ideas to help you show your friends some love from a safe distance.
Food gifts: Because who doesn’t love some edible treats arriving at their doorstep, right?! Here are some of our personal faves:
12 Oaks Desserts DIY cupcake kit - A perfect family activity (and delicious too)! Available for local LA delivery.
God’s Country Provisions Donut Decorating kit - Another great way to spend a fun family morning. We ordered a DIY kit for ourselves and had a great time customizing some crazy donuts.
Mouth - This is one of my go-to gifting sites. They sell amazing subscriptions as well as one-time boxes for people with all different tastes including birthday in a box, the boozy pickles box, the cheesy box and a gluten free box. Make sure to sign up for their mailing list to get 15% off your order.
Postmates/Grubhub/Caviar Gift Cards - Save someone the decision about what to make for dinner and send them a gift card!
Alcohol: Because the only thing better than quarantine food is quarantine alcohol
Cocktail Courier - Everything you need for the perfect drink delivered in one package. You select how many servings you want and they do the rest. I personally would love for someone to send me their Patron Tequila Watermelon Basil Margarita kit.
Ritual Zero Proof - For your friends that don’t drink but still want to join your Zoom happy hour, check out this tequila replacement. I just ordered a bottle and can’t wait to try it out!
A sentimental treat: For your pregnant friends, your best girlfriend, parents. Anyone who needs a little spoiling:
Farm Girl Flowers - This female run business is seriously impressive! The flowers are beautiful, the customer service is amazing (I order all my flowers from here) and their transparency is something all companies should strive for.
Make a photo book or print some photos from Shutterfly or Artifact Uprising. One of the hardest parts of quarantine for us has been not seeing parents and I know they would love to receive a special photo album full of grandkid pics.
Free and low-cost ideas: Because you don’t need to spend any money to show someone you care
Snail mail! It’s a classic for a reason. Make a card, grab a card from the closet or buy one of these cute quarantine themed cards from Etsy.
Make something at home and drop it off for a friend close by! Bake something, make an extra serving of dinner or if your friend has kids, make some essential oil-scented play dough and drop it off on their porch! Anytime you can entertain someone else’s kids that is a total win.
Virtual: No need to spend money or even leave the house. Sounds like a pretty great plan to us!
Make a video message and send it to someone. My 3 year-old has a very limited attention span for Facetime, but she always love sending and receiving video messages. It takes seconds and can really brighten someone’s day!
House party - I haven’t done this yet but Christianne has done it with her family and had a blast!
