Year Round Closet Essentials for All
As summer turns to fall and more of us are increasingly back to the world, it’s a doubly great time for all regardless of age, size, or gender to take stock of their wardrobe. I’m a forever proponent of seasonal shifting to clarify what you have on hand that serves you, what you like, and what you might need or want to replace. Usually we think in terms of the clothing and accessories we wear, but it’s equally important to stock and refresh your wardrobe supplies. What the heck are those? Well…
Over the years working in fashion and as a stylist, I’ve collected a list of ComposedCo Closet Essentials for All. These must-haves keep you looking sharp and as importantly, extend the life of your belongings with minimal routine upkeep. Outlined below are my Top Eleven (I couldn’t lose even one of these for a Top Ten! See my full, longer list of picks and the specific brands I recommend here):
specific hangers for separates, blazers and coats (Save the shape! It matters!)
heel savers (Cheaper and easier than replacing soles and heels.)
shoe polish, cloth and brush (Neutral polish works for all smooth leathers.)
lint roller (Whether you have pets or not!)
sweater shaver (Tap the shaver, don’t ‘mow’ with it.)
compact, high-power steamer for home and travel (Small but mighty!)
sewing kit (Go basic or go deep, but you need these tools.)
shoe bags for travel (to protect your shoes and everything else in your bag!)
sturdy and collapsible air-drying rack (Air dry everything delicate or with stretch.)
liquid bluing (Fight off yellow or dingy whites.)
grease remover (This stuff moves grease stain mountains. Apply, wash and be amazed.)
Keeping these supplies on hand ensures you’re ready for last-minute events, clothing snafus AND saves money by lengthening the lifespan of your clothes and shoes. How’s that not essential for all of us?
