Introduce yourself, what you do and your family.
My name is Zoe - I am the owner of Three Sisters Jewelry. We specialize in personalized jewelry and unique vintage finds. I am married to Niels and we have three daughters - Jette (20), Ellika (17) and Britt (14). We have two cats too that we are all totally obsessed with - Lucky and Mazzy.
What is it like balancing running a small business and parenthood? What is one great tip you can share? It’s challenging - it was definitely tougher when the girls were smaller. But staying organized and inspired is critical - the two don’t always go hand in hand but I think you need both. I try and create team environments both at home and at work so everything “wants” to pitch in and help.
Did you always know that your daughter was gay? And what did you do to ensure her upbringing felt safe and inclusive?
Yes, I always had the mother’s instinct. My husband and I talked about it early on and decided to never ask her about boys, pressure her to do socially “female” things and then openly discuss how we felt that love is love. Our family is about acceptance in general so it was natural.
Do you have any favorite books or inclusive toys that celebrate queer parenthood? I don’t - sorry! But our cat does have a great pride mouse.
