An Interview With Glara Feili, Founder of The New Mama Club

Today on The Mag we have Glara Feili, founder of The New Mama Club, a “one-stop shop for knowledge, wisdom & education”. Learn more about Glara and what inspired her to start The New Mama Club, how she’s preparing for the arrival of her second child, her favorite family-friendly activities in London and much more!

We're so happy to talk with you! Can you start by telling us a little about yourself and what inspired you to start The New Mama Club?

So in 2017 I found out that I was expecting my first baby. It wasn’t planned but it was such a happy surprise and I just couldn’t wait to be a mum, I felt so ready. But I really wasn’t ready for the ups and downs that I was about to encounter during the pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

I have learned so much from my own experience over the last 3+ years which inspired me to create The New Mama Club.

So, I wanted to create a platform where I can inform and support other mothers-to-be, as It can truly be a very difficult and lonely journey.

How many kids do you have? What ages?

My first born is almost 3 years old and I’m currently expecting my second child in July.

You're about to become a mom for the second time, congrats!! How are you prepping your son for the arrival of your next child? What are you most nervous for and most excited for?

I find this second round very interesting. I’m not nervous about the birth or the new born stage, but I’m slightly nervous about my sons reaction to the new baby. He is luckily at an age now where he understands that mummy has a baby in her tummy. We are prepping him with gentle daily reminders. We encourage gentle physical and verbal communication towards my bump. We have bought a “Becoming a Big Brother” book which we read to him most days. I also plan to buy him a gift from the baby, to give to him when he’s first introduced to the baby.

I’m aware that it will be an adjustment, but I believe its important to focus on your older child’s needs during this time. I think it’s very important to develop a secure and safe environment for your child in order for them to accept the new baby in to the family.

I love how you tackle big topics on The New Mama Club like breastfeeding, sleep training techniques and diastasis recti in a very straightforward and informative way. How do you select the topics you cover?

Thank you! In all honesty, I am pretty much touching on all the topics I struggled with through my own motherhood journey.

There are so many things to learn and adjust to and not many seem to talk about it prior to you having a baby!

Us mothers seem to walk around with all these issues and worries over our shoulders with nowhere or no one to confide in, so I wanted to create a safe space where we can talk about all topics relating to becoming a mother.

You only launched just a few weeks ago and have already done so much! What's next for The New Mama Club and how do you want to see it grow?

My aim is to keep growing our community in order to educate and support more women around the globe. That is my passion and it's really rewarding hearing the positive feedback we have received so far. We as mothers need to know that we are not alone in this ... We have got each others backs!

What are your favorite family-friendly activities in the London area?

We are very lucky to live next to a big park in London. Our favourite daily activity is to feed the ducks in the park and go to the Zoo and Playground of course. London has so much to offer for families. We live in a town filled with Cultural Activities, Museums and Parks.

And finally, where can we find you?
